Server was recently hit by virus. We restored files from backups and all is well except one Access database file. This file is shared off the server and multiple people use it. Only one user needs write access and everyone else just need read access. No matter what I do in windows explorer to change file permissions, everyone has read only permissions.
I'm thinking of just starting over with a new backup file as I think the permissions on this file are corrupt. What am I doing wrong??? If not, you may have some corruption in the file. The folder which holds the ms-access database needs to have all with write ability to create the ldb file during use, I'd test by giving full control to security, then if works back off IF that works I would back off the everyone to none and add in only the admin security - network folk, and any user group s that collects all users together of interest.
